What's New in 24Trots: Command Search, Smarter Session Detail, and a Big Batch of Polish
A new command-K search menu makes navigating the app instant, session detail pages got a major upgrade, and the AI agent can now read and edit series rosters — plus a busy week of fixes and UI polish.
24Trots Release Notes — June 29, 2026 Release date: June 29, 2026 Update type: Minor version update Applies to: All user roles (Admin, Manager, Member, Participant) · All person types (Staff, Volunteer, Participant, Guardian) Estimated read time: 3 minutes Summary This is one of the biggest weeks yet. A new command-K search menu makes jumping around the app instant, and session detail pages got a significant upgrade — dynamic status banners, custom hours on person cards, live staffing counts during drag, and a "Next in Series" shortcut. The AI agent can now read and edit series rosters, and its chat history persists between visits.
What's New ⌘ Command-K Search Menu Pressing Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) opens a global search menu from anywhere in the app. Type a person's name, a horse's name, or a session to jump directly to that record. Results appear instantly as you type. Mobile users can tap the 🔎 icon in the header to invoke this new feature. Use it when: You know what you're looking for and want to get there in two keystrokes instead of navigating through the sidebar. 📋 Session Status Banners — Upcoming, Completed, and Cancelled The banner at the top of every session detail page now reflects the session's current status with distinct colors and labels. Upcoming sessions show a neutral banner, completed sessions show a muted state, and cancelled sessions show a clear red/destructive banner so the status is impossible to miss. A new Restore button appears on cancelled sessions so Admins and Managers can reactivate them without leaving the page. Use it when: You need to quickly confirm a session's status at a glance, or reinstate a session that was cancelled by mistake. ➡️ "Next in Series" Navigation A Next in Series button now appears in the session detail header for sessions that are part of a recurring series. Tapping it takes you directly to the next upcoming session in that series, so you can review your series week by week without going back to the list. Use it when: You're reviewing a recurring series session by session and don't want to keep returning to the sessions list between each one. 🕐 Custom Hours on Session Detail Person Cards For recurring series, person cards on session detail pages now show the custom work hours for each Staff member and Volunteer directly on their card — visible to Admins and Managers. The layout adjusts cleanly for both mobile and larger screens. Use it when: You're reviewing a session roster and want to confirm that each person's scheduled hours are what you expect, without opening the series settings. 📊 Live Staffing Counts During Drag Staffing counts in the session and series detail headers now update in real time as you drag people onto or off the roster. You no longer have to drop someone in and wait for the page to refresh to see whether you've reached your target headcount. Use it when: You're actively building a session roster and want immediate feedback on whether you're under or over your staffing targets. 🟢 Online Now Indicator in Messages The Messages channel header now shows an Online Now count so you can see at a glance how many people in the channel are currently active. User profiles and online status displays also now include person type badges for quick identification. Use it when: You're about to send a time-sensitive message and want to know who's currently available to see it. 🧠 AI Agent Can Read and Edit Series Rosters The AI agent can now read series rosters and make roster changes on your behalf. It can look up who is assigned to a series, identify gaps, and add or remove people when asked. The agent also now remembers your conversation between sessions — its chat history is saved locally so you don't start from scratch every time you open it. Use it when: You want to ask the agent "who's on the Tuesday series?" or "add Sarah to the Thursday afternoon series" without doing it manually. 🔍 Tap-to-Zoom Avatars Profile photos on person and horse detail pages can now be tapped or clicked to open a full-size lightbox view. The lightbox closes when tapped again or when clicking outside the image. Use it when: You want to see a profile photo at full resolution without downloading it. Improvements • Assignment card layout redesign: Horse assignment cards on session detail pages have been reorganized — discipline badge and tack details now appear on the same line, the "Add note" button is anchored to the right, and action buttons are positioned more consistently across screen sizes.
• Messaging UX: The message feed now loads scrolled to the most recent message. The message options menu has improved behavior and appearance. Message icons have been updated for clarity.
• Staffing terminology: "Under-staffed" has been renamed to "Short-staffed" consistently across the dashboard, session detail, series detail, and calendar.
• Auto-resend expired invites: When a user requests a new invite link and their existing link has expired, 24Trots now automatically resends a fresh link instead of requiring manual action from an Admin.
• Placeholder text: Input placeholder text across the app has been made more subtle so it doesn't compete with user-entered content.
• AI agent FAB: The AI agent floating action button can now be temporarily hidden if it's in the way — useful on dense pages like session detail.
• Series propagation: Changes made to a series now propagate to individual sessions atomically, eliminating a gap where partial updates could occur.
• Display names in rosters: Person display names are now consistently computed and shown in session and series roster views.
