What's New in 24Trots: Smarter Tack Defaults, Shift Overlap Suggestions, and Custom Work Hours

Horses and Participants now store per-discipline tack defaults that apply automatically at assignment. The scheduler also flags Volunteers already on shift, and custom work hours can be set per person on a series.

24Trots Release Notes — June 15, 2026 Release date: June 15, 2026 Update type: Minor version update Applies to: All user roles (Admin, Manager, Member) · Person types: Staff, Volunteer, Participant Estimated read time: 2 minutes Summary This week brought deeper tools for managing what happens at the barn — per-discipline tack defaults, on-shift staffing suggestions, custom work hours per person, and more control over which person types receive automated email notifications.

What's New 🎠 Per-Discipline Default Tack Profiles Horses and Participants can now store separate tack defaults for each riding discipline (e.g. English, Western, Dressage). When a horse or Participant is assigned to a session, the correct tack set is pulled in automatically based on the session's discipline. Admins and Managers can still override at the assignment level. Use it when: A horse goes in a different saddle for Western vs. English lessons and you want the right tack to show up without manually entering it each time. 🔍 On-Shift Overlap Suggestions When adding Staff or Volunteers to a session or series, the app now shows who is already scheduled for a barn shift that overlaps with that session's time. Suggested people appear at the top of the picker so you can staff efficiently without cross-referencing the schedule manually. Use it when: Scheduling a last-minute lesson and you want to know which Volunteers are already at the barn. ⏱️ Custom Work Hours Per Person on a Series Admins and Managers can now set custom working hours for individual Staff or Volunteers on a series roster — useful when one person works a different schedule than the rest of the team for a recurring block. Use it when: A part-time Volunteer helps with only the first hour of a two-hour session series. Improvements • Default attendance to Present: Organizations can now enable a setting that automatically marks all attendees as Present when a session is opened, reducing the number of taps needed to confirm a full session.

• Staffing status badges: Session detail pages now show whether a session is fully staffed, understaffed, or over quota at a glance.

• Per-person-type email toggles: Email notification settings now include individual toggles for Staff, Volunteers, Participants, and Guardians — so Admins can control exactly who receives automated emails.

• Improved avatar colors: Person and horse avatars now use a richer color palette with bolder initials for better readability across the roster.

• Series cancellation in the edit pane: Cancelling a series now happens from within the edit details pane, consistent with how session cancellation works.

• "Until (ongoing)" for open-ended series: Series with no end date now display "Until (ongoing)" instead of showing a blank or confusing date.

Fixes • Fixed role tag categories causing saves to fail when a custom tag was assigned to a person.

• Fixed the session type field incorrectly appearing when editing a recurring session.

• Fixed Participants and Guardians being counted toward Staff and Volunteer quota spots.
